Rip City’s Lil’ Ripper (6U – 9U)
This camp is designed for ages 6U-9U to build a solid baseball foundation which is critical to progressing through little league, let alone high school baseball and beyond.

Bad habits are hard to break, so let our staff promote great habits & your athlete can be productive this season and in years to come. Our curriculum is highly organized and filled with positive energy and coaching. The program includes hitting instruction as well as defensive instruction led by HS Coaches and/or former college players.

Rip City’s Little League Camp (8U – 12U)
Let us get your 8U-12U athlete into playing shape so they can have a productive tryout and great season! Each athlete will be able to brush up and knock the rust off moving into the new 2019 baseball season working on core fundamentals with a positive progression each week led by HS Coaches!

Campers will learn critical fundamentals as well as technical aspects of baseball through intensive and involved instruction from the Rip City staff and some of the regions most talented instructors. The camp involves instruction on hitting as well as positional play.

Pitching Camps

Pro Pitcher Program: Ages 9U-12U ($325)

Our 10-week camp permits open enrollment when a player is ready to start training in preparation for their competitive seasons. The program provides technical instruction, but also focuses exceptional time on age appropriate strength, flexibility & conditioning.

Monday, January 14, 2020 is the first proposed instructional day, but this program permits open enrollment when a player is ready to start our 10-week academy curriculum.

Athletes will go through extensive mechanical analysis to promote healthy arm action, while increasing velocity. Players will become regimented on exercises and techniques to train the scapular stabilizers as well as the rotator cuff. The significance of the core & legs will also be a focal point. Each pitcher will also receive instruction on the appropriate grips based off their age and natural arm slots to promote natural movement.

The one time fee of $325 permits pitchers regular access to the facility, but also includes an instructional day with staff who will focus on mechanics, including video analysis.

Pro Pitcher Program: Ages 13u-18u Players ($590)

Our 10-week Pro Pitcher Academy program permits open enrollment when a player is ready to start training 2x per week in preparation for their competitive season. The program provides highly technical instruction, but also focuses exceptional time on strength, flexibility & conditioning.

The curriculum permits a meticulous progression to build strong, and healthy arms. Athletes will go through extensive mechanical analysis to promote healthy arm action with increased velocity. Players will become regimented on exercises and techniques to train the scapular stabilizers as well as the rotator cuff. The significance of the core & legs will also be a focal point. Use of technology to track several key metrics, including spin rate and spin efficiency, along with analysis of pitching mechanics will aide our professional staff. Each pitcher will also receive instruction on the appropriate grips and arm slots to promote natural movement.

The one time fee of $590 permits pitchers regular access to the facility, but also includes two instructional days with our professional staff. Monday, December 9th is the first instructional day, but this program permits open enrollment when a player is ready to start our prescriptive program.

Catching Camps

Rip City is pleased to announce our Winter Catcher Camps. This camp will be challenging for intermediate to advanced players. The sessions include training on receiving, blocking, throwing and also involves instruction on bunt defense, and passed ball recovery. Several advanced skills and drills will be introduced and repeated over the course of the month..

Rip City has hired Ryan Smoot as our Senior Catching Instructor. Coach Smoot earned all-state honors as a high school player before going on to play college baseball for VMI, where during his senior year, he started in 50 college baseball games! Coach Smoot is now a college catching coach and he also previously worked for the Dominican Baseball Camps in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic as well as a Senior Catching Instructor with the Jonathan Hadra Baseball Camps.

Rip City has hired Paul Koch to lead our February Sessions. Coach Koch, a former D1 Catcher, has also been a veteran high school and college coach since 1996. He’s held a wide range of coaching responsibilities and helped lead his teams to various championships over two decades. Koch started his coaching career on staff in college baseball with James Madison University. His first Head Coach job was at James River HS in Richmond, VA. At the collegiate level, he has also coached in the summer collegiate leagues, including the Valley Baseball League as well as the Cal Ripken Collegiate League. Koch also coached at the International School of Beijing, where he was responsible for helping create and manage the Sports Beijing Dynasty- the first of its kind in Beijing. He is currently the Head Coach at Rockridge in Ashburn, VA.

Infield Camp

Former D1 Collegiate Shortstop and current High School Coach, Kyle Wrighte, will lead infield instruction. Proper fielding fundamentals coupled with training foot patterns to put the body in a good fielding position will be instructed and rehearsed. The camp will engrain fundamentals but then pivot into the intricacies of being an elite defender, including throwing on the run and from different arm angles.

Winter Hitting Camps

The Rip City hitting camps in February include instruction on hitting fundamentals and absolutes. Instruction will include how to increase bat speed, create a better bat path and use better rotational ground force; all of which leads to greater exit speed, and ultimately more hits!
